Pitch_Bending_-_Mouth Player 1

As indicated in the video of the throat during pitch bending, this technique is accomplished through movement of the tongue. In this video, the saxophonist bends the pitches of the chromatic scale from C6 to G#6. The tongue arches farther forward in the mouth as the pitch descends and returns to its normal position ("i" vowel position as in "tree") as the pitch ascends. Only one of the saxophonists in the study moved the tongue in this manner in executing this technique.
